The Virginia Tech College of Agriculture and Life Sciences traces its roots back to the founding of the Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College in 1872. Today, the college is instrumental in using the land-grant model of research, education, and outreach to tackle the complex challenges facing our world.
Within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, we serve more than 3,500 undergraduate and graduate students and over 240,000 youth across the commonwealth who are preparing to become the leaders of tomorrow. We reach citizens throughout the state through Virginia Cooperative Extension, which works to improve community health and viability. We are proud of our rich heritage and tradition, and excited for the impact we will make in the future.
Why we need your support
The college is committed to creating a vibrant and diverse community of the most talented students, regardless of their financial capacity. Your help is needed to ensure that deserving young people have a chance to realize their dreams.
Gifts open doors and provide possibilities for our students, equipping them with the resources, knowledge, mentorship, and opportunities to pursue their dreams. With your support today, they can become the scientists, producers, policymakers, physicians...and leaders of tomorrow.
Thanks to your support, last year we had more than $750,000 in available scholarship funding, and we awarded more than 400 scholarships. Approximately 30 percent of our students received needs-based scholarships or grants.
You can also help extend the reach of Virginia Cooperative Extension and 4-H by supporting these organizations and allowing them to have profound impacts in the commonwealth — and around the world.
How you can help
CALS Annual Fund
Giving to the CALS Annual Fund is the best way to support us on the Day of Giving. This fund allows the dean the flexibility to help in all areas — from research to specific student and faculty needs to opportunities that advance our land-grant mission.
These funds help pay for financial aid awards, student research projects, summer internship stipends, student travel and study abroad opportunities, student mentoring programs, and so much more. Every gift, whether large or small, adds up to create a college experience that is like no other.
4-H and Virginia Cooperative Extension
Your gift will support educational programs in local communities, providing new opportunities, and helping us reach the greatest number of youth. Your support will extend our ability to help youth, adults, and communities to reach their full potential.
Departments
Giving to individual departments allows you to direct your donation to your department of choice.
Registered Student Organizations
Do you have great memories of being in a club, fraternity, or sorority as an undergraduate? Giving to a registered student organization is a great way to enhance the student experience, and to help support travel to conferences, speaker symposiums, and other rewarding activities.
Please note that to give to a registered student organization, you must write-in the name of the club or organization in the “Other” field on the official Giving Day donation form.
