With a combination of veteran leaders and talented newcomers, the Virginia Tech women’s soccer team enters the 2021 season with aspirations of making returns to both the ACC and NCAA tournaments. Coming off their finish in the ACC quarterfinals last fall, the Hokies are bound to be tested early and often during the 2021 campaign, highlighted by a September tilt against the defending national champion, Santa Clara. Senior midfielder Emily Gray and sophomore forward Tori Powell are back for Tech this season after ranking first and second on the 2020-21 squad, respectively, in goals scored. Between the posts, the Hokies are anchored by sophomore goalkeeper Alia Skinner, who led the ACC in saves as a freshman. Tech is also supported by the addition of 10 newcomers who are primed to make an immediate impact in Blacksburg.
