Virginia Tech hopes for a breakout year from its strong group of underclassmen in the 2021-22 season. Many young players were able to get experience in ACC play last year which will prove useful in the upcoming year. Newly-extended head coach Terry Ann Zawacki-Holdren continues to strengthen her youthful squad by bringing in high ranking players from the European circuit.
YOUR support during Triumph Together will go to the following areas of need:
- Facility Upgrades – new locker rooms, offices, sports medicine area, student athlete lounge, etc. These improvements will not only benefit current student-athletes, but will also make it easier to recruit top-talent.
- Recruiting internationally - Currently college tennis is a very international sport with 50% of our top 100 ranked players being international. Being able to travel to international tournaments will help our recruiting efforts (tournaments such as Junior French Open, Junior Wimbledon amongst others) and would help bring top tier student-athletes to Virginia Tech.
- Team Trips – Pre-season or spring break training trips would give our team the chance to bond with limited distractions and would give us the opportunity to play against different competition.
"The impact our donors make is tremendous. From scholarships to facilities, their generosity goes a long way in making a positive impact on the lives of our student-athletes. Because of our donors, our department is able to help student-athletes receive a first class education while earning their diplomas and competing in arguably the top tennis conference in the country. Because of our donors, our student-athletes are able to utilize resources such as PlaySight on our home courts, amazing nutrition education and services, top notch academic facilities, updated strength and conditioning resources, just to name a few which helps them to succeed both during their time on campus and after they graduate. Our donors play a huge role in the success of our student-athletes and we are very grateful for all they do!"
- Terry Ann Zawacki-Holdren, Head Women's Tennis Coach
