In the last few years the Virginia Tech lacrosse program has asserted itself as a program on the rise, not only in Virginia and the East Coast but indeed on the national level. The program enjoyed its most successful season in 2018, winning a record number of ACC games and earning the Hokies’ first ever invite to the NCAA Tournament where they advanced to the Sweet Sixteen. Since then, Tech has continued to field competitive teams, frequently placing student-athletes on All-ACC, All-Region and All-American teams. For each of the past five years, the Hokies have had a student-athlete on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List, given annually to the most outstanding collegiate lacrosse player.

She also helped the squad turn in four consecutive seasons with a winning record at home, posting a 19-6 mark at Michie Stadium from 2018-21. Skiera has developed 12 All-Patriot League performers, as well as the program's first-ever Patriot League Rookie of the Year.
