Support Student Affairs | Recreational Sports

A gift to Student Affairs | Recreational Sports helps provide state-of-the-art recreation facilities and activities to students, employees, and the community. In addition to gifts to the department, Giving Day can also directly benefit the programmatic areas that comprise our department.

We're way more than just a recreational center: Rec Sports has one of the largest impacts on campus. The Department of Recreational Sports encompasses engaging and educational disciplines including fitness programs, intramural sports, sport clubs, outdoor adventures and education (Venture Out), aquatic programs, golf and disc golf, and much more.

One of the six major programs sponsored by the Department of Recreational Sports is our Sport Club program. Our 30 highly competitive and successful (on both a regional and national level) sport clubs are comprised of approximately 200 dedicated team officers and 1500 team members.

Although Recreational Sports allocates limited funds to each sport club twice a year, each club must raise funds to pay for the majority of their annual expenses, which includes league/conference dues, uniforms and equipment, travel expenses including hotel rooms, airline tickets and/or fleet service vehicles, among other expenses.

Representing Virginia Tech in sports ranging from Clay Target to Fencing to Rugby (just to name a few) at competitions at universities around the country, and right here in Blacksburg, is an expensive undertaking. Generous donations to any of our 30 sport clubs provide the financial support that enables our student-athletes to compete in the sports they love, while representing Virginia Tech and showing their Hokie pride around the country. Your generous gift to the sport club of your choice helps the Virginia Tech Sport Club program maintain its status as being one of the best in the country and nationally recognized as one of the model programs that other universities strive to emulate.
