A relentless array of emerging threats to national security and the promise new technologies and talent hold is creating an undeniable urgency for defense sector innovation. The Virginia Tech National Security Institute meets these pressing and ever evolving needs for the nation’s intelligence and defense communities.

Based on the foundation of the Ted and Karyn Hume Center for National Security and Technology, Virginia Tech launched the Virginia Tech National Security Institute in September 2021.

With dual locations in Blacksburg and the Washington, D.C., metro area, in the heart of private and public sector innovation, the institute is a global destination dedicated to advancing national security in pursuit of a secure America.

At the nexus of interdisciplinary research, technology, policy, and talent development from across the university, the institute integrates student learning and cutting-edge research at a scale unmatched by other organizations.

How You Can Help
