Check out Giving Day 2023!
College of Agriculture and Life Sciences
We’ve helped communities thrive since 1872.

Our college makes a difference in every corner of the commonwealth and around the globe.

We develop new research tools to tackle the complex issues in our food systems, local economies, the environment, and health. And we share this knowledge with the world through our Virginia Cooperative Extension network.

We are the land-grant mission. We prepare more than 3,500 students to be leaders in agriculture and life sciences.

We can’t do this alone. You are vital to our shared success as we work to create lasting positive change both today and tomorrow.

With your support today, our students can become farmers, scientists, producers, policymakers, teachers, and the leaders of tomorrow.

Your generosity on Giving Day makes a significant impact on the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Your gift helps support:

  • Applying the skills learned inside the classroom in the real-world through a variety of applications and experiential learning opportunities
  • Giving students scholarships so they can focus on academics and the student experience, lessening the time commitment of working while learning.
  • Allowing students to participate in organizations and events both in Blacksburg and across the country. Annual funds give students the opportunity to bolster their professional development outside of the classroom.

Currently, more than 30 percent of our students depend on need-based scholarships or grants to realize their dreams of a Virginia Tech education. Our goal is to provide that opportunity to even more students by increasing our scholarship awards to more than $750,000.

Together, we can put the university’s Ut Prosim (That I May Serve) motto into action and help both our local and global communities thrive.

How you can help

CALS Annual Fund

The CALS Annual Fund helps pay for financial aid awards, student research projects, summer internship stipends, student mentoring programs, and so much more.

Departments

Giving to individual departments allows you to direct your donation to your department of choice.

Virginia Cooperative Extension

You can also help extend our reach by supporting Virginia Cooperative Extension and allowing them to have profound impacts on the people of the commonwealth — and around the world.

We take concrete action that advances the wellbeing of Virginia. Whether we’re building a more resilient food system, supporting local economies, or mentoring youth, we help manage our natural resources, bridge access to knowledge, and shape a brighter future for our communities.

Those gifts have allowed us to equip Virginians with the knowledge, skills, and sense of personal and social empowerment to thrive in the face of everyday challenges.

Across the state, we offer programs in local communities that help the agricultural and natural resources industries, protect the environment, empower individuals and families to learn about health and nutrition, and grow 4-H and other leadership opportunities.
