Every day, the College of Science aims to further Virginia Tech’s traditions of innovation and educational leadership. Our mission is nothing less than discovering solutions to the world’s most persistent and perplexing problems.
That mission begins right here in the Southwest Virginia communities that extend outward from Blacksburg. Our scientists – and our students – are working on addressing issues such as substance abuse disorder in Appalachia, documenting trauma and stress unique to rural Black communities, and providing ecological forecasts that assure clean drinking water.
Further from Virginia’s mountains, we’ve established the Seale Coastal Zone Observatory to assess the impact of microplastics in oceans, guided the James Webb Space Telescope, and are working toward developing batteries that last longer and are more environmentally friendly.
Much of this work was enabled by the support of donors such as you. Today, we ask you to support us on our mission by giving to the College of Science annual fund. This fund gives us the flexibility to respond rapidly to issues affecting our students and faculty. This year, we’ll be using these funds to provide students with financial need scholarships for buying textbooks.
Please join your fellow Science Hokies to help make a difference and give today.
