In John Sung’s first three years as the head coach of the Virginia Tech lacrosse team, the program has experienced unprecedented success and has burst onto the national scene. The foundation has been built for long term growth and sustained success of the program in Blacksburg.
Sung’s squads have amassed the most wins in a three-season span in the program’s 25-year history, which includes the historic 2018 season, where the Hokies won a record 14 games, including their first ACC tournament game and made the NCAA Championships, reaching the Sweet Sixteen.
In 2018 a record four Hokies were named to the All-ACC team and three earned All-Conference accolades a season ago.
Each season under Sung, the program has had a student-athlete recognized on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List, given annually to the most outstanding collegiate lacrosse player.
