Swimming & Diving

Sergio Lopez Miro has helped lead Virginia Tech Swimming and Diving to new heights. The Hokies saw tremendous performances on both the men’s and women’s sides at the 2023 NCAA Championships, with the men finishing No. 9 in the nation. Youssef Ramadan became the program’s first ever national champion, claiming the 100 Fly title in 43.15. As they move towards the 2023-24 campaign, your gifts will go towards supplementing the equipment budget, the team’s yearly training trip, recruiting, and facility enhancements.

Hokie Nation plays a crucial role in the success of our program. Through the efforts of Triumph Together, we can continue to develop and nurture our athletes' endeavors, empowering them to achieve their full potential. The support garnered through this initiative not only enhances our team's performance but also fosters a sense of community and pride among our athletes. We’re grateful for the generosity of our donors, as their contributions directly impact the success and growth of our program.

- Sergio Lopez Miro, Head Coach

The Hokies travel deep as a roster, taking a large number of student-athletes from both men’s and women’s rosters to various meets around the country. Your gifts to this program would allow Hokie swimmers and divers to travel comfortably throughout their long season. Gifts towards travel would also allow this staff to continue to recruit internationally and domestically for some of the most talented potential Hokie student-athletes.

In addition, the Hokies will look to travel 15-20 student-athletes to the US Olympic Trials, taking place in Indianapolis June 15-23, 2024. Several Hokies have already made the cut, as others look to qualify for a chance to compete for a roster spot on Team USA. Your gifts will help support Virginia Tech student-athletes as they race for a spot in Paris!

The coaching staff also sees tremendous value in utilizing one trip per year outside of the home facility to further develop the talented roster. It is vital to the building of team chemistry and the overall top-tier student-athlete experience that Virginia Tech has to offer.

The Hokies call the Christiansburg Aquatic Center home, and there is always room for improvement in the facility. Contributions from Triumph Together would help this program make the necessary changes they see fit in the facility that they practice and compete in.

“Triumph Together helps our program generate the necessary funds to train in the best conditions, which improves our student-athlete experience at Virginia Tech, achieve our goals, and compete at the highest level.”

- Youssef Ramadan, Senior, National Champion
