Drive for 25 Day

Prior to 2010, the women's program just once (2004) made the postseason - playing a game in both the ACC and NCAA tournaments. Since, the team has qualified for five ACC tournaments, playing for the conference title twice (2008 & 2013), and earned eight straight bids to the NCAA championship (2008-15). Tech made three runs to the Sweet 16 (2009, 2011 & 2014), but enjoyed its greatest success in 2013. That record-setting season included the Hokies posting a school-record 19 wins (most by any soccer team at the school), playing for the ACC title and advancing to the NCAA College Cup, where their season ended with a 3-2 loss to Florida State in a national semifinal game.  Along with the great strides the Hokies have made on the pitch, the Tech women’s soccer program is also known for producing outstanding students who are major contributors off of it. Each year, the Hokies boast a high team grade point average and have student-athletes who compete for state, regional and national academic recognition. In fact, during the 2017-18 academic season, the team posted a program-tying best ever team GPA of 3.53 in the spring semester. Also, in the past three years, both Ashley Meier (2015) and Alani Johnson (2017) have received an ACC Postgraduate Scholarship, with Meier also earning an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship as well. Lastly, in 2018, Heather Timothy became Tech's sixth women's soccer player to earn the Skelton Award for Academic Excellence in Athletics - the highest designation handed out by the Tech athletics department

YOUR support on Drive for 25 Day will assist our program in many aspects including:

• Facility enhancements at Thompson Field which will ultimately keep us on the same plane with our peer members of the ACC.

• Strengthening our recruiting budge in order to bring in the top talent in the county, allowing us to compete for ACC and National Championships. 

• International Travel - This year Virginia Tech Women's Soccer will take its first ever international trip to Costa Rica.  The women will play two games, take in Costa Rican culture, participate in team bonding activities, and spend a day doing community service.
