When a concerned mother of two from Flint, Michigan, reached out to professor Marc Edwards three years ago about lead in her family’s drinking water, he and a team of students and faculty answered the call, leading a harrowing nationwide effort to bring clean drinking water back to the city.
When Virginia Tech alumna and Associate Dean Bevlee Watford began her distinguished career in the College of Engineering 25 years ago, she saw opportunities to better reach and retain students, especially those traditionally underrepresented in engineering. She founded the Center for the Enhancement of Engineering Diversity, which today supports thousands of the next generation of Hokie engineers who are empowered to become leaders.
And when Tesla founder Elon Musk challenged the world to create a fifth mode of transportation, a team of Virginia Tech undergraduate engineering students built a Hyperloop pod from the ground up — making the Hokie Nation proud as they consistently placed in the top 10 during competitions.
When our students, our faculty, and our staff are called, we spring into action.
And we do it with your support.
By giving of your time and resources, our more than 70,000 living alumni have continued to power the College of Engineering as it confronts 21st-century challenges through iterative, creative, and impactful research. You have supported the College of Engineering as we prepare globally-minded, conscientious engineers who graduate ready to apply cutting-edge knowledge in service to our communities and beyond.
How you can help
On this inaugural Giving Day and in the spirit of Ut Prosim, we’re asking our alumni, students, and supporters across the globe to continue their support of the College of Engineering — or even to support the college for the first time.
Giving to the College of Engineering’s Annual Fund is the best way to support us on Giving Day 2018. This fund allows the flexibility to help in all areas, from research to scholarships, to specific student and faculty needs, to other opportunities that advance our land-grant, service-inspired mission.
With your continued or first-time support, you will fuel excellence in our classrooms and laboratories. You'll help to send students and faculty across the nation and the globe as they address complex global problems. You’ll fund scholarships and the support systems that give every Hokie the chance to succeed and be a leader. And you can enable our world-class researchers to conduct cutting-edge research with far-reaching impacts.
Our engineering Hokies are among the best in the world. Let’s do better and be better. Together. With your help, we will spring forward this Giving Day. Every person and every dollar counts toward making our collective mark on the world.
